Class Feedback12/19/2017 It's so weird to think that at the start of this semester I had never even used Google Docs and now I can create entire news stories. I am thankful to this class for everything it has taught me, I might only get a year here but I think I wouldn't have learned this in Spain no matter how long I was there. I recommend this experience to everyone I hope they get a chance to experience it.

NEWS PACKAGE12/18/2017 I have to say this was probably my favorite project. I think it's even better than the six-word story. I have to say that a lot more planning, work, and time go into it. however, I'd say it's worth it. I had so much fun editing all of my footage and remembering what we were doing in all of those moments. I'd say that this project helped me immortalize one of my dearest memories. I only get to stay here for a year, I know that this news package will stay with me much longer. I can't wait to go back to Spain and show everyone. My only setback were the plot points.
"Everybody has a Story"11/17/2017 For this assignment we were asked to watch a couple of videos. They were stories about randomly picked people. And yet they moved me, bringing me close to tears. Steve Hartman has a true talent when it comes to interviewing. Although he may not follow Bob Dotson's theory of Hey, You, See, So exactly he still manages to give his videos emotions and interesting plots. He never fails to get ones attention, usually with a sound effect. He also uses these as punctuation, a trick I can't wait to use on my News Package project. Somehow Steve has managed to relate every single story he tells to me, a random girl in LHS. A very good example is that of a wife in Pennsylvania who thought there was nothing special about her. She turned out to have a kind heart which she shared with her adopted children just as much as she would've with her real children. My favorite is that of a middle school football team, called Olivet. The entire team prepares a very special play, they help a kid with special needs score his first touchdown. This shows that the kid will always have a friend there with him to support him, and it also shows the other players on the team to care and be nice to others.
Practice Interview11/9/2017 Learning how to do an interview, like everything new students learn in high school, this has a couple of basic steps we need to follow. Some of these include: watching your audio, prepping before the interview, listen to the subject and not to be scared of steering off topic if somebody reveals very interesting information. Now if this does happen always make sure to ask if the person being interviewed would like to add anything, a lot of times people get the best information with the answers to this question. Another essential part of interviewing is ensuring that the person is comfortable, ask in long sentences and explain to them what is going to happen, while telling them they can restart a question, and asking them a bit of warm-up questions to relax them. Always remember to tell them to look at you and not the camera and ask them to say and spell their name so that the camera man can see how the audio is. After learning all of these details I have to say I am very excited to do the actual interview and see how that goes.
Six Word Story10/25/2017 My six-word story talks about my experience, moving to the US. A lot of people don't realize this but America is just like in the movies. The football team, the cheerleaders, the lockers, and even the school buses! I loved doing this story because it was so fun to get to use a locker, throw a football and many of the other things that i did for this video. None of it felt like work, it was always a lot of fun and laughs. I picked all of my shots because I thought they were an important part of everything that shocked me in America. I still remember waiting for the bus on my first day of school, even though I was terrified, I still remember the excitement of getting to ride the bus. Another example is the time I have lunch here. In Spain I would I would have lunch at three, here it’s at twelve. One experience I won’t forget is when I was handed my schedule and had to figure it out, I didn’t know where to start! Some of the struggles I had were planning all the shots and actually managing to do them with my resources Andrea coordinating everything so that it looked okay once editing. My advice is to start filming as soon as you can because sometimes redoing it is necessary or recommended. You also have to remember that editing is a big part of the project. Plan ahead as much as you can, and give yourself time.
19 Shots Gallery10/11/2017 I did the 19 shots in two tries. The first group of shots I did inside the school with my iPad. It was difficult to take them without the tripod that the camera usually has. We had to be in a weird stance to get the least amount of shaking possible. This can't be seen in the screenshots but it was a big part of the process. One of my favorite shots was the Bird's-Eye View, it was hilarious to have Ellie lie on the floor and pretend to be dead. Another really good one was the Wide Shot at Noa's house, the surroundings were just really pretty. I definitely enjoyed filming the Collapse and Contract Dolly Shots, we decided to film Noa driving towards me and me going towards or away from her. A lot of jokes about me being run over came from that. The last one I think should be mentioned is the Shadow Shot, although it's not in the six screenshots below I believe I should talk about it because Ellie started dancing to "La Macarena" and it was a good laugh.
Shoutout to http://noahahn.weebly.com/ for featuring me in her blog post, I look ridiculous but I'm going to say it's the thought that counts. Six-word story10/3/2017 Most six-word stories I found were very deep, if not outright depressing. The feelings and situations you can transmit with so little can be quite overwhelming. I am going to try to make mine funny, or at least upbeat since i don't want to make my audience tear up. One good example is: We're lying in bed. She's lying. More examples of six-word stories are on this website ->
www.sixwordstories.net/ Ernest Hemingway revolutionized the writing world when trying to prove his friends wrong. They were eating at a restaurant and they said he'd be unable to write a meaningful story in six words. He didn't have a very good life (he committed suicide) but in the writing world he was a genius. Video Scavenger Hunt8/3/2017
WALLDO and Final Cut Pro8/2/2017 WALLDO stands for Wide, Angled, Low, Linking, Depth, and Opposite. Trying to do shots with different perspectives was really fun! Getting all the footage was starting to be easier as you start to remember all the details you need. Using Final Cut Pro was even better. It seems like iMovie when you start, but as you learn more about the app you realize how creative you can be. There are a lot of different ways to create and finalize a project even with the guidelines. I'm excited to use it again, as long as i don't forget all the shortcuts it should turn out well! I also learned about certain false friends while filming this project, languages are complicated.
iAm Lucía8/1/2017 I am going to talk about the iAm Lucía video. Well, for starters I found it hilarious to relive so many moments of my life concentrated into such a small period of time. One minute can reveal a lot about a person if it's managed well. However i would like to explain some things, yes that is my family. But a very extended one. We always get together during Christmas and celebrate it together. The boy you saw using those platform skates (freeline) is a friend of mine, I don't have any videos of me using them but I thought it would be fun to share a random ability I happen to have. you wouldn't know this just from seeing the picture but the team of girls that I show is from a sport called Gaelic Football. It is an Irish soccer, you use your hands and feet. if you want to learn more click here. Another fun aspect of this project was getting to know my classmates better, especially in such an creative way. Every person who I showed this video to said they couldn't believe I had done so much in just two weeks of class. And the best part was it was easy and fun! I recommend doing this outside of school too, it's a very good way to pass the time and an easy way to introduce yourself. I can't think of any flaws to the project, it's very well planned.
